Cheque

I was in one of our local Banks this week when a well dressed young lady entered. Taking out a brand-new cheque-book, she flung it on the counter and announced:

 "I want thirty shillings." 

The clerk pushed back the book

“You will have to write a cheque for it," he explained. 

The girl looked surprised, and then aggrieved. 

“Must I?" she said, disgustedly. "I thought you would do that for me!”
